File shredder is a tool or software that can completely remove data from your computer. To deeply understand the use of file shredder, one should first understand the need to file shred. Basically what happens is, when you delete a particular file from your PC the file eventually get placed in the recycle bin or gets invisible but not deleted. The file that you deleted can be easily recovered by the use of some recovery applications that are available and thus there is every chance you are at risk of data theft. File shredder allows the deleted file to completely delete from the PC, not even a trace of it can be found later. File shredding is other wise termed as data eraser because it erases data from your PC and hard drive completely such that it cannot be recovered with any recovery software.

File shredder is thus an application which helps you completely remove files no longer prominent from your PC. Use of this application has prevented data theft and the stealing of private information, research has found. The file shredder application uses an overwrite program to remove the data fully from hard drives wherein the program writes a series of 1s and 0s over the current file that is to be shredded, this will create a program that automatically deletes the file completely and making it irrecoverable. Depending on the securities reasons, users should primarily strive to protect their data and delete it completely with the help of file shredder.

File shredder is not only used for business data deletion, but also can be used for domestic data deletion. For instance, you are selling away your computer and want to delete all the data from the core not leaving any stone unturned; in such a case, file shredder application can come in handy. All in all, file shredder is an application that uses basic programming languages to overwrite the data in question and delete it completely from your system and hard drive. It is easy and handy to use with a highly responsive user interface that works like zap.

Vuze- A Revolutionary Platform to Download HD Videos

Vuze is probably one of the most popular applications with PC and Mac users because it allows users to search and download movies and videos in HD. It is compatible with normal PC and Mac so there is not much of a hassle caused when using this platform to search and download movies and videos in HD video picture quality. Vuze does all the searching as it uses a peer to peer protocol, i.e. bittorrent. In short, Vuze is an application that is capable of searching and downloading from millions of torrents available on the web and produces HD videos as output. Vuze is an application that has offered free publishing literally at no costs enabling producers to market their upcoming flicks through this amazing peer to peer bittorrent platform.

Vuze is a high profile bittorrent client but it is altogether different when compared to all other bittorrent clients in video quality (HD video), supreme searching capability and ease of use. It can be easily operated by anyone who just knows the basics of using a computer. Vuze comes with a social networking feature wherein users can rate and comment on a particular content, this raises the compatibility and popularity of Vuze. Users are also required to download and install the application in order to use it.

Vuze stimulates the downloading speed and only tries to raise it to a certain extent; however the download speed will also depend on the bandwidth, the number of bittorrent users sharing the file and your connection speed. One of the important features of using Vuze for downloading your HD videos is, one can download videos in as many formats as they like. It cannot play files itself, since there is no embedded media player in it.

Apart from all the features mentioned above, Vuze has got an amazing and responsive user interface that helps its users navigate, search and download much faster. The latest version of this amazing platform also integrates with iTunes, Xbox 360 and PS3, which makes it a piece of cake. It also has an amazing device support feature through which you can transfer videos onto your iPhone.

Find, download, and play HD video with Vuze. Free Download

At first when USB 2.0 was introduced, it was not thought to be popular like it is now. USB 2.0 is the 2nd generation in the Universal Serial Bus Series. USB was released by Intel in the year 1996 in order to replace the older RS 232 cables and 25 pin connects. Everyone is now aware of the significance and benefits of USB. It would be better if it had provided wider support at a platform level for it to be more successful.

The USB support was implemented by Intel for the Pentium II and Pentium Pro on the 440FX chipset. It was not made for the wider adoption, since the Microsoft’s Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 OS were missing the support for the USB software. Also, there was only limited existence of USB compatible devices which made the USB launch to get affected more. USB 1.0 was first started as a niche interface and was having a data rate of 12 Mbps.

Is USB Worthless or Universal?

When the USB was updated by Intel in the year 1998, many users thought that it would be worthless. USB version 1.1 had an important feature called interrupt transfers for Human Interrupt Devices (HDI) like Mouse and keyboard. The main disadvantage of USB 1.1 was its lower data transfer rate, which were only 1.5 Mbps and 12 Mbps during the low speed link mode and full speed respectively.

The Need for Speed: USB 2.0

After 2 years (in 2000) another update was made to the USB 1.0 which was termed as USB 2.0. The main update here was its bandwidth, which was 40 times more than before and data rate was 480 Mbps. There was incompatibility between 1.0 and 2.0.

It was used for thumb devices, secondary storage devices, smart phones, MP3 players, Data cables and digital cameras. It was a good replacement for serial and parallel connectors.

USB 3.0 is now ready for main stream consumption with its high Bandwidth (10 times more than USB 2.0) & Data rate (4.8 Gbps) and it should be another success just like its predecessors.

The USB 3.0 interface only uses 1/3 the power of the 2.0 version because it only it will go into a low power state when not in use. USB 3.0 is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices are currently in production. Western Digital’s My Book 3.0 external hard drive is the first certified USB 3.0 external drive to hit the market so far.

Also, to claim you’re USB 3.0, the manufacturer has to deliver 5Gbps. There’s no other way to get certified with the USB 3.0 logo unlike the previous transition from USB 1.1 to 2.0 which caused consumer confusion with misrepresented speeds from the manufactures.

The new feature in Windows 7 allowing us to view thumbnails from the Taskbar is a good enhancement especially for the multi-tasking computer user.

The size of the thumbnails are quite small and if your monitor screen doesn’t have the best resolution than your not really able to use this handy new feature.

Behold, the Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer 1.1. with options to adjust the thumbnail sizes and margins to meet your requirements.

The Delay Time setting is very useful; to speed things up, we set it to so there is no delay between when you mouse over a taskbar icon and when you see the thumbnail. Simply drag the slider to the size (or time in the delay settings) you want, and click Apply settings. Windows Explorer will automatically restart, and your new taskbar thumbnails will be ready to use.

This tool makes it safe and easy to change the size, spacing, and more of your taskbar thumbnail previews. And you can always revert to the default settings inwhich you can experiment without fear of messing up your computer. If you’d prefer to change the settings manually without using a dedicated application then please follow these steps.

Open Regedit & navigate to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband

In the RHS panel, create a DWORD value named MinThumbSizePx.

Right click MinThumbSizePx and select Modify. Set its decimal value to say, 300.

Exit the Register Editor and Logoff.

Dropbox is the most useful web application for the PC user with multiple PC’s or Mac’s as it allows for easy access to shared files. Dropbox also provides a very powerful solution (“computing in the cloud) for the traveler who relies upon files transmitting to customers or coworkers on the fly. The user will see a green checkbox on each file that has been updated and in the process of syncing; two arrows on a blue background indicate the work being done. Any file that you drop into your Dropbox folder automatically uploads to the remote Dropbox servers and you can access it from your account using a web browser. Dropbox will also keep the previous version of an updated file if needed.

Simply register a free account, download Dropbox to each computer and choose where you would like it to reside (Desktop, Documents, etc) and you’re good to go.

The service is free for the first 2 GBytes of memory and you can increase this by inviting people to join Dropbox with 50GB and 100GB options available for a monthly fee. Dropbox uses Amazon’s S3 storage system to store the files and SoftLayer Technologies for its backend infrastructure.

The Nexus One from Google vs the iPhone from Apple. We’ll present the facts and you decide.

Let’s start with the Hardware and since the Nexus One is newer to the Smart Phone market its 1 GHz Snapdragon processor should theoretically best the iPhone 3GS’ 600 MHz Cortex. The Nexus One doesn’t have the 16GB or 32GB of internal storage that come with the iPhone, but it can use MicroSD cards that store just as much. It also has double the RAM of the iPhone 3GS, 512MB vs. 256MB. The display on the Nexus One is slightly larger with the 3.7 inch vs the 3.5 inch multi-touch screen. The iPhone camera comes as a 3.15 megapixel with auto-focus but lacks the 2x digitalzoom and LED flash on the Nexus One’s 5 megapixel spec. As far as video capture, the iPhone records with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels compared to 720 x 480 pixels for the Nexus one.

Now the Applications available. The iPhone wins hands down with over 20 thousand choices compared to around 10 thousand for the Nexus One. On the other hand, a lot of the iPhones Applications can cost 1.99 to unlock which causes some resentment with iPhone users. The Nexus One uses the the Android 2.1 operating system and will definitely give the iPhone 3.1 OS a fight. It features the ability to carry multiple wallpapers, “interactive” backgrounds which make patterns after a user touches the screen and an extensive file-browsing system. Google’s work on the OS has also resulted in a number of new voice commands. Users can now dictate voice-to-text, and can use voice commands in order to receive turn-by-turn directions in the phone’s GPS software. Google’s work on the OS has also resulted in a number of new voice commands. Users can now dictate voice-to-text, and can use voice commands in order to receive turn-by-turn directions in the phone’s GPS software. This feature is very nice when your in a hurry or your driving and need quick and easy access to the phone’s many features. When it comes to music and video the iPhone does double as an iPod with iTunes full access but the Nexus One can still find and delivery this content via its very powerful Google Web Application integration.

Both gadgets come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. However, the iPhone’s file system is locked, barring users from sharing files between their phones. Both gadgets also come with a digital compass and accelerometer, but the Nexus adds a second microphone to its hardware in order to power a “noise cancellation” feature.

Rumor has it that Apple will be launching its next-generation iPhone in May, and not in June or July 2010. This launch should take care of most of the shortcomings of the iPhone 3GS. It may even widen the gap between tech titans Apple and Google, as they slug it out in the battle for smartphone supremacy.

Windows 7 comes up with lot of features and utilities. This Windows hack better known as GodMode is a built in feature in Windows 7 that allow you to access all Windows utilities in one spot. This built in feature hasn’t been yet advertised. To access this feature you just need to create a new folder and name it as
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

This will help open it up and you get access to the display options, backup or recovery, power management and many more options. This is very helpful for those users who forget where to access the defragmenter or the device manager. And if you are lucky you will find any other useful utility you never knew existed.

It’s been quite a few years that Microsoft has tinkered with its Control Panel. Other hacks for windows 7 are easy and well know. If you want to get Windows vista style taskbar in your Windows 7 you just have to right click on the taskbar and select properties dialog. Then select the small icons checkboxes. When taskbar is full select combine which will give you same functionality as vista.
You can easily unlock the hidden themes of the Windows 7 themes. Open the Explorer and go to C: \Windows\winsxs and then press *. Theme into the search field or else use * on the number block. This will lead you to click me prompt. You can double click on the themes to install them.

To enable the quick launch bar in Windows 7 right click on the task bar and then select toolbars and go to new toolbar from menu. Then copy paste the following address in the address bar.
%SystemDrive%Users%username%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet Explorer

Then click to navigate to the folder and then you can see the Quick Launch folder so select it to enable.
