Tips to maintain your computer at work

If you are the one who uses a computer at the office, the  below tips will help you to maintain your computer:

  • You should install all updates required by your IT department required for your computer. If you don’t install updates then you make your computer exposed to viruses and other security risks. You should verify with your company first to see if they want you to install updates on Microsoft Updates. Then check Microsoft Updates regularly. This will save you from installing updates every now and then.
  • You should make it a habit to install only licensed programs on your computer. If you don’t then your company might get sued for having software without a license.
  • Never install different versions of software or else you will get incompatibility problems.
  • You should inform IT when your hardware isn’t working. Don’t try to fix a broken computer yourself as it can make things worse. Your method may make the computer incompatible with the corporate network. You can refer to the help desk or technical assistance program given by IT.  IT departments are more experienced so its better to ask for help from them.
  • You should let know IT when you need something. If you give IT department adequate time to plan then they can help you better. If IT is not acquainted with your needs then you may end up with software or hardware which is of no use to you.
  • Never download from internet sites that are not trustworthy. Downloading form such sites may harm your computer.
  • Sometimes you may receive viruses through e-mail so contact IT department before downloading suspicious e-mail.  If you open virus containing e-mails it may hamper your computer.
  • You can always take help from IT department’s online support. There are many FAQ which they publish on internal help sites which can answer your queries.
